Summary

Perform Engineering Technician support for the Greenfield, Indiana plant. Assists operations with setting up machines, processes and work flows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Support and troubleshooting assembly and manufacturing process.
  • Identification of inefficiencies, bottlenecks and downtime issues, ultimately leading to design proposal and implementation of solutions.
  • Engineering floor support.
  • Assists maintenance when needed.
  • Basic knowledge of air lines and air powered mechanical devices.
  • Modify and create new and existing instructions on assembly line processes.
  • Operator training and development of job instructions.
  • Consult with engineers, process technicians, managers, foreman, maintenance and quality personnel to solve product and quality problems.
  • Performs time studies on assembly processes.
  • Performs multiple audits monthly on assembly lines.
  • Develop routing and set up sheets.
  • Functions as a liaison between operators, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Work with Quality Department to develop Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and process FMEA’s.
  • Accurately communicate test results to engineering and management.
  • Generate reports with using excel graphs integrated into power point presentations.
  • Use digital voltage meters and appropriate equipment to trouble shoot and gather critical data when needed.
  • Assist in trouble shooting electrical and mechanical devices.
  • Low level soldering skills
  • Basic understanding of wire schematics.
  • Analyze electrical panels for repairs.
  • Read and understand regulatory (SAE, ISO, ANSI…etc) customer, and internal specifications.
  • Create, understand, follow and communicate detailed test instructions.
  • Assist with failure analysis evaluation and product RMA analysis.
  • Modify and create assembly line camera programs using InSight Explorer (Cognex Camera Systems).
  • Modify and adjust existing ladder logix programs using RSLogix.
  • Edit and adjust PLC and SigPod programs and parameters.
  • Replace and calibrate load cells on assembly presses.
  • Replace and install broken or new sensors on assembly lines (proximity switches, fiber optic sensors, reed switches, laser distance sensors, QR code readers, etc.)
  • Adjust and create Telesis Pin stamp programs.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associates degree in Automated Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university or significantly more experience to compensate for lack of degree or equivalent as determined by the Engineering Manager.
  • Minimum of (3) years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with positions directly related to the above duties.
