Summary

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. Journeyman card is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintenance & Repair: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Inspections & Diagnostics: Perform routine inspections, diagnose equipment issues, and identify and replace defective parts.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance activities, such as lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments, to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, environmental regulations, and relevant codes.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory.
  • Equipment Management: Manage parts, tools, and equipment inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
  • Facility Upkeep: Perform minor repairs, carpentry, and painting as required for facility maintenance.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls and provide on-call support. Required skills and qualifications.
  • Technical Expertice: High level of skill in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Trade Certification: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in specific trade, signifying full qualification and independence. Must posses a Journeyman’s card in an approved trade.
  • Manual Dexterity:  Fine manual dexterity for detailed work on machinery.
  • Diagnostic Tools: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Reading Technical Information: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, and specifications. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Basic Skills:  Depending on the role, it may include basic welding, fabrication, machining, and computer skills.
  • Problem solving:  Strong problem-solving skills to determine appropriate solutions for complex issues.
  • Communication: Good communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating with teams or management. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other Qualifications: Must be available for overtime. Must have a valid drivers’ license. Minimum of 5 years in an assembly or manufacturing environment.
