Job Description

SUMMARY

Analyzes, plans, orders and expedites material to meet production needs.  Controls and processes the release of parts numbers and drawings into production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Process material releases and perform supplier scheduling for a designated number of suppliers. assigned by Materials Manager and be a backup for all supplier scheduling. Subsequently learn to be a backup for production scheduling as well.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.
  • Monitor MRO inventory levels and order items for shop floor use as needed to maintain consistent supply of needed items.
  • Shop competitor suppliers for better pricing on like items and propose changes to Materials Manager for savings.
  • Establishes and maintains a backup source for high demand items.
  • Place weekly orders for cardboard and monthly for VCI products.
  • Recalculate the average usage for MRO items quarterly and adjust safety stock levels and order quantities appropriately.
  • Daily contact for plant service providers such as trash, scrap & propane.
  • Monitor FA daily & FDOCK weekly for errors, correct as necessary and report the results to Materials Manager.
  • Investigate inventory problems as they arise and report back to production and Materials Manager.
  • Perform daily random cycle counts and share results with Materials Manager.
  • Provide monthly inventory control reports to Materials Manager, cycle count results, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Confirm there are enough supplies for annual physical inventory and purchase as necessary.
  • During annual physical inventory, works with each count team to be sure they are following the procedures correctly and spot checks to be sure they are counting accurately.
  • Replace location labels as needed and assign homes to new items.
  • Remove location labels and notify management as items go obsolete.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
