Summary

Assist in implementing manufacturing processes; ensure policies and procedures are followed by all EMP employees on the floor.  Will rotate shifts in order to cover gaps when other PTs are in training. Shift rotations and length of time will vary. Likely off shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read blueprints, tooling instructions and standard charts for specifications such as dimensions, tolerances and tooling instructions for holding fixtures, cutting speeds, feed rates and proper tooling.
  • Set up and verify tooling for production jobs. Deliver to work cells and collect tooling from previous jobs.
  • Ensure fixtures are in good working condition.
  • Coordinate with tool crib supervisor for repair or re-sharpening of tools.
  • Responsible for tool usage sheets and uploading/downloading of programs (coordinate with engineering personnel).
  • Document and report to quality and engineering departments any deviation in process, change in tooling and/or any machine override variance from 100%.
  • Follow up on quality watches to ensure the frequency of checks has been increased for any dimension related to a process change that may take place.
  • Provide time studies and feed back to proper engineering personnel.
  • Setup and operate machining equipment as needed.
  • Work with engineering in the development of prototype parts.
  • Work with operator to improve on setup/machining skills. Understand safety requirements.
  • Routine inspection of work cells, including but not limited to, tagged baskets, organization, quality of parts, efficiency of operator and address any issues/concerns the operator(s) may have.
  • Communicate with engineering department regarding chronic production problems.
  • Look at ways to reduce cost and improve production

Language Skills 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Two-year certificate, AA/AS and/or three years related experience and/or training in programming; or 2 years of engineering education and/or experience.
