Designs end of arm tooling for robots (EOAT), assembly equipment, automated assembly and machinery, jigs, dies, and fixtures by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports existing fixtures, equipment, and components in the manufacturing process with design input.
  • Create fixture designs using ProE from analysis of parts and processes. Designs shall include:  assembly drawing, details, bill of materials, and requisition of purchased and raw materials.  The design process should follow the fixture design, build and error-proofing flow chart, and be documented on the fixture design, build and error-proofing summary.
  • All design work should follow department procedures and work instructions per our QMS System.
  • Research and recommend the latest technology in work-holding designs.
  • Develop work-holding standards and clamping formulas
  • Evaluate soundness of fixture design using quantitative analysis.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining equipment and programming.
  • Application and interpretation of GD&T.
  • Review designs with Toolmakers.
  • Support and interact with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Gather and analyze design information (work piece, processes, equipment, etc)
  • Design and detail machining, inspection and assembly fixtures, special tools, equipment and fixturing for automation.
  • Purchase required fixture components and raw materials.
  • Quote tooling/fixturing needs with manufacturing engineer for new projects.
  • Supervise the manufacture, inspection and testing of fixtures, special tools, etc and troubleshoot as required.
  • Apply algebraic and geometric formulas and standard tool engineering data to develop tool configuration.


Associates degree in a related field and 2 years experience preferred.
